About the Advisory Council for Career & Technical Education

MISSION STATEMENT

The Advisory Council for Career and Technical Education is charged by state law with the task of advising the Department of Education on the development, administration and evaluation of policies and programs relating to Career and Technical Education.

The Council, composed of volunteers from industry, labor, postsecondary education, and the non-profit sector, defines its mission as assisting the Department of Education in providing to all students relevant and meaningful programs for acquiring high-level academic and workforce preparation skills.

The Council carries out its mission by bringing the employment and education communities closer together, fostering collaborations among industry, labor, and education and other-non-profit professionals. Council members serve as important links between the New York City Public School System and the community, connecting the schools to external resources and information needed to ensure that Department of Education Career and Technical Education policies and programs are current and relevant.
