Herschel Bhasin of Thomas Edison H.S. Gets the Gold at SkillsUSA Internetworking Nationals

At last week's SkillsUSA Championships in Kansas City, Missouri, a student from Thomas A. Edison CTE High School in Queens became the first New York City winner of the Gold Medal in the SkillsUSA National Competition in Internetworiking.  Herschel Bhasin, a Cisco student at Edison,  joined more than 5,600 outstanding career and technical education students—all state contest winners—competing in 94 different trade, technical and leadership fields.

At the annual event, students work against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations like electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assisting and culinary arts.

Contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations, and labor organizations, and the test competencies are set by industry partners. In all, New York State students won 8 medals in 6 different competitions in Kansas City.

Congratulations to all the competitiors -- and their teachers -- for putting their CTE skills on display.
