ABC and Disney Celebrate Student PSAs with $30,000 in Scholarships

PSA awatds

WABC-TV Channel 7 broadcast the student entries in the annual Public Service Announcement competition.
 

At this year's ABC/Disney "Get Reel with Your Dreams" award ceremony, Channel 7 Eyewitness News co-anchor Sade Baderinwa presented $30,000 in college scholarship funds to five New York City high school students for their television work creating 30-second Pubic Service Announcements (PSAs). Baderinwa created the competition three years ago to introduce public high school students to top professionals in film and television.
 
Harry S Truman High School students Ian Denton and Ernesto Gonzalez took First Place for a PSA on child abuse. High School of Art & Design students received two awards: Jaquan Franklin won Second Place for a spot on HIV, and Elena Havas and Sebastion Lema took Third Place for a PSA  on teen suicide.All three Art & Design students were Finalists in the Tenth Annual Citywide Graphic Arts Competition last May.
